Donoghue Solicitors is an award-winning firm of no win no fee solicitors. We are experts who can help you make personal injury compensation claims.
Why we are different- our no win no fee promise
Where appropriate, when you claim compensation with Donoghue Solicitors we sign up to a conditional fee (‘no win no fee’) agreement with you. This ensures that you are not liable for our legal fees in the unlikely event your claim is unsuccessful*.
You can relax and leave us to worry about funding your case, so you can concentrate on more important things, like getting better.
Free claim funding service
Donoghue Solicitors will fund your claim while it is ongoing.
Unlike other firms, we guarantee that you will not be asked to pay any fees to progress your case, e.g. for disbursements, insurance and VAT.
In certain cases these fees can amount to thousands of pounds. Other solicitors and claims companies expect their clients to pay these fees themselves, or sign up to expensive loan agreements where interest and loan charges are deducted from damages.
We guarantee that you will not have to pay anything to pursue your claim while it is ongoing.
How Donoghue Solicitors is paid
When you win your case, the majority of your legal fees are paid by those responsible.
We will also agree a “success fee” which is only payable by you in the event you recover compensation.
This is our reward for taking the risk of not getting paid, agreeing that payment is delayed, and funding your legal costs in the meantime.
When you enter into a no win no fee agreement with us we agree in writing to limit this fee to only 25% of your damages for personal injuries (known in law as “pain, suffering, and loss of amenity”) and past financial losses, meaning that you will receive 75% of your compensation for them (subject to you also paying for optional “after the event” insurance, which we explain in the next section, and see * below. This limit applies to first instance proceedings only. The success fee is calculated with reference to our basic charges.)
What happens if you lose your case
In the unlikely event that your claim is not successful, we promise not to claim any of our legal fees from you. This is written into the no win no fee agreement, so you know that it will be honoured.
If necessary and eligible, we will apply for an “after the event” insurance policy on your behalf. If you take out this optional cover, again at no upfront cost to you, it will protect you from a claim for your opponent’s costs, your disbursements and other expenses.
That way, if you lose your case, you walk away owing nothing.
(If you take out an “after the event” insurance policy and win your claim its cost is payable by you in addition to our success fee. These things are only payable if you win. We will discuss if such a policy is necessary with you and only advise you to seek to take one out if it is in your best interests. We take no commission from the insurers if you take out an after the event insurance policy.)
By using Donoghue Solicitors we guarantee that you are not at financial risk in the event your claim is unsuccessful*.
We promise that we will explain our fees in a clear way, answer any questions you might have, and always act in your best interests. As Law Society approved experts in Personal Injury Accident Claims, you can rely on us to provide the best possible service to the highest ethical standards.
And we assure you that, for your protection, the terms detailed in the signed conditional fee agreement and insurance policy take precedence over anything you may read elsewhere, including here. That way you know exactly what to expect from us and the insurers, and what your obligations are.
You have nothing to lose and valuable compensation to gain.
Why won’t a solicitor take my no win no fee claim?
Unfortunately, we cannot represent everyone who contacts us in their no win no fee claims. Cases may have poor prospects of success, meaning that the claimant personally would be at risk if they lost. Or they can be of low value, so they are uneconomical to pursue. Read this blog post for reasons why a solicitor may not take your no win no fee claim.

*Subject to obtaining after the event insurance and complying with its terms and the terms of our conditional fee (‘no win no fee’) agreement. However, in certain circumstances you may have to pay fees. For example, if you are unwilling or unable to obtain after the event insurance and lose your case you may have to pay your opponent’s fees and your own disbursements; or if you miss a medical appointment, the doctor may charge a cancellation fee. Full details of these exceptions are detailed in the no win no fee agreement between us and, if taken out, the after the event insurance policy.
